A Place of Rest

Hello all,

This week I have at last found myself some time to rest and recuperate after an incredibly hectic few months. I am currently on a visit to Spain and looking forward to seeing the great Flamenco guitarist Paco De Lucia perform in Valencia tonight.

On Monday I was down at Gizzard Recording Studios laying down some drum tracks for David Garside's new single and LP for Frizz Records. They are being produced by, founder of Frizz and bass player for Mr.Hudson, Raphael Mann. I was very impressed with the way that Raph operated as a producer. He knew exactly what to do to get the right sound for each track and knew when he needed to push for a better take and when something was the best it could be. We were doing a analogue recording, which was an entirely new experience for me, and it was interesting to watch Ed the engineer literally chopping up the tape to make a loop for a section.

Right now I am taking a short break from performing until August when I will be back playing with The Cuban trio. We will be performing at the Martineau Place Shopping Centre on the 20th at 11:45.

Catch you there.

Lydia
