    Other News....

I have begun my teaching in Hetfordshire and Staffordshire which I am really enjoying. I have found that it helps me to get a sense of perspective upon my own musical career and give something back to the wider community. A 'burn out' and a complete aversion to music is a common symptom of a music college graduate. So much time is spent on practice and looking at things obsessively in minute detail that it can be easy to loose sight of what music is about, and it can be a struggle to find your inspiration again. This is terribly corny but teaching is helping me to feel inspired. It is a privilege to share in the joy of somebody else's musical discoveries and be there to see the moments where everything just clicks.

On the performance side of things I had a fun gig at Theatre Severn in Shrewsbury last weekend with Julian Dean, Chris Boulton and Stuart Goodhew as part of a new free jazz initiative. 'Free' meaning you don't have to pay in this case. I also have a gig coming up at an awards ceremony for which I have formed an 8 piece band to play 1920s jazz which is proving to be quite a task. It is set be an entertaining evening for all involved.

I have been down at Gizzard studios recording for David Garside's album. We actually managed to record his Epic ten minute song 'Good Hope' in two live takes. Check out this video to see what a feat that is!

I have also formed a new folk group with some very talented musicians. It looks like it may be shaping up pretty good so I will keep everyone informed.

    Lydia
